Institute of Intelligent Sensing and Information Processing, School of Electronic and Information Engineering, Beijing Jiaotong University, is mainly focused in the thematic research areas of intelligent sensing and machine learning, information processing and electronic systems, integrated circuit design and Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS). The institute is also undertaking the teaching for the professional basic courses, covering all majors in the electronic information area, as well as the program and discipline constructions in electronic science and technology, and information engineering.

The institute has the “Ten-thousand Talents Program” leading talents supported by the organization department of the CPC Central Committee, national-level teaching masters, Beijing teaching masters and Beijing higher education young talents. There are 52 academic staff, including 8 professors, 27 associate professors, 4 lecturers, 3 senior lab technicians, 9 lab technicians and 9 engineers. The Institute pays much attention on international exchanges and collaborations. In addition to 64% of the academics have overseas study or visiting experience, good cooperative relationships with many international well-known laboratories and jointly training programs for graduates have been established. With a combination of rich teaching experiences and a high level research environment, the academic team with strong innovative abilities provides supports for the high-level professional talents training.

With science-education integrations and university-industry collaborations, the institute has built up a visual perception and intelligent analysis joint laboratory, an integrated innovation joint laboratory, a semiconductor devices and processing laboratory, a signal and image processing laboratory and other research platforms. At the meantime, the institute has established many national-level teaching platforms, such as the National Teaching Base for Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the National Experimental and Teaching Demonstration Center for Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and the National Experimental and Teaching Demonstration Center for Electronic Information and Computer Science. The research and teaching platforms are equipped with advanced facilities and well managed, which provide a good environment for the creation of high-level professionals with excellent comprehensive quality.

The Institute currently presides multiple research projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), “13th Five-Year Plan” Equipment Pre-research Fund of the Ministry of Equipment Development of the Military Commission, Research Foundation of Ministry of Education of China, Key Project of Science and Technology Research and Development Program of China Railway Corporation, Natural Science Foundation of Beijing, and the collaboration funding from industries; The institute has published a number of high-level papers in the world leading journals, such as Pattern Recognition, Nano Energy, IEEE Trans., etc., and international leading conferences such as ICPR and ICIP; The institute has been awarded a number of provincial and ministerial level science and technology prizes; The Institute also has published more than 10 national-level planning teaching materials, such as Digital Signal Processing (3rd Edition), Signals and Systems (2nd Edition), and Foundation for Digital Electronic Technology (3rd Edition), as well as Beijing high-level teaching materials and a number of translated teaching materials; A number of national-level premium open-access online courses, national-level premium open-access video courses and national-level premium shared source courses, such as "Signals and Systems", "Digital Signal Processing", "Analog Electronic Technologies", "Digital Electronic Technologies" , etc., have been built up by the institute. Through the continuous efforts and accumulations, the Institute of Intelligent Sensing and Information Processing will play a more important role in the talent training and discipline construction for our University.
