Major Introduction : Information Engineering
(1) Major characteristics
The major of Information Engineering at the university, with a long history, was founded in 1988. Based on the national key discipline of Information and Communication Engineering, the faculty members are strong in research and teaching, including national outstanding teachers, Chang Jiang scholars, national teaching team and innovation team of the Ministry of Education. The teaching resources are rich, including a number of national teaching platforms, scientific research platforms, and the university-enterprise co-construction practice training base. This major confers bachelor's, master's and doctor's degrees, and is equipped with professional tutors to support students' personalized development.
(2) Cultivation objectives
The major aims to cultivate students with socialist core values, decent engineering quality, basic theory and professional knowledge of information processing and information security, strong engineering practical abilities, team spirit and innovation consciousness, decent international vision, adapting to continuous career development, advanced professional quality for research, design, manufacturing, application and management in the public and information engineering fields.
Specific capability goals are as follows:
1. Able to effectively apply engineering knowledge and technical principles to solve complex engineering and technical problems in information or related fields, undertake the research, development and implementation of information engineering related technologies or products, and embody innovation consciousness in engineering practice;
2. Able to evaluate and make reasonable judgments based on conflicting needs and incomplete information. Able to assess the achievement of engineering activities, social and environmental impacts, and the sustainability of engineering proposals;
3. Responsible for the management and decision-making of part or the whole project in engineering practice;
4. Possess teamwork and good communication skills. Able to work in a multi-disciplinary team and a cross-cultural environment;
5. Able to acquire knowledge, improve ability, and track technology frontier and development trend through lifelong learning;
6. Able to abide by laws, regulations and engineering professional ethics in engineering practice. Possess a good sense of social responsibility.
(3) Core courses
Signals and Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Digital Image Processing, Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning, Fundamentals of Information Theory, Principles of Communication, Wireless Communication, Principles and Technologies of the Internet, Information Security Theory, Artificial Intelligence Technology, Internet of Things and Big Data, Data Mining, Information Security Management and Risk Assessment.
(4) Further study and employment
Graduates are competent at research, development, design, application and management in artificial intelligence, big data, information security and other fields. The employers include electronic information research institutes, high-tech technology industry companies, enterprises and institutions.
